Los Gatos History museum

The Grand Opening of Los Gatos Museum is set for May 31st from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the History Museum of Los Gatos.  There will be Food, libations, live music, and the stories behind some of your favorite drinking establishments in Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell, and San Jose.

The museum which is located at Forbes Mill, 75 Church Street, Los Gatos was a storage facility for wheat and flour back in the 1880s. The annex was built by the Los Gatos Manufacturing Company for Forbes Mill, a flour mill started by James Alexander Forbes in 1855, the first building erected in soon-to-be the city of Los Gatos. The mill was torn down in 1915 but the stayed safe and became the home for the History Museum of Los Gatos in 1982.

The History Museum of Los Gatos is looking for your memories.  So if you have a story or memory that you feel embodies or is important to Los Gatos history; they are interested in hearing from you.   The museum will include these community stories in a new long-term exhibit being developed for the History Museum.

Below are the submission guidelines about your stories that you can submit to the museum for consideration:

  • Try to keep your submission to less than 400 words or your recording to less than three minutes.
  • Be sure to include a date or general time-period, location and as many details as you can remember.
  • Each submission should be related to one specific event, subject, place or object but you are more than welcome to submit more than one story.
